Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal forms part of twenty two (22) Metropolitan, Municipalities and Districts in the Western Region of Ghana. The Municipality t is located between Latitude 400’N and 500 40’N and Longitudes 10 45’ W and 20 10’W.  The Administrative capital of the municipality is Tarkwa .It Bounded to the north with Prestea-Huni Valley District, the south by the Ahanta West District, the West by the Nzema East Municipal and the East by Mpohor District and Wassa East District respectively. The Municipality has a total land area of 2354 sq. km.

This district covers 17 towns and has a total population of almost 250,000 at a growth rate of 2.97 percent.  

The goals of the municipal include improving farmers income level, increasing inland fish production and increasing livestock production.

The municipal can boast of many mining companies, mining support services and industrial laboratories, which are privately owned and serve as strategic development partners.

However, we still desire more support in industries from good and well meaning investors.

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr. Amin Amidu Sulemana, has  assured the people of Tarkwa and its surrounding communities that the unmarked portion of the Tarkwa to Apimanim road in the Western Region would soon to be marked to reduce the high rate of accidents recorded on that stretch of the road.
